About this tool

Charades is the no-talking acting game: one player mimes a randomly generated word while their team races to guess it before the timer runs out. Pick a category and difficulty, tap reveal to get a word, keep it hidden, and act it out with gestures only. Keep score for two teams — the side with the most correct guesses wins.

How to use it

  1. Split into two teams and pick a category and difficulty.
  2. One player reveals a word — keep the screen hidden from your team.
  3. Start the timer and act it out silently while your team guesses.
  4. Score the round, or Skip a tricky word, then pass to the next team.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play charades?
One player mimes a word with no talking while their team guesses before the timer runs out — no speaking, sounds, mouthing words or pointing at real objects. A correct guess scores; then the next team takes a turn.
What are some good charades ideas?
A mix works best — movies (The Lion King), animals (penguin), everyday actions (brushing teeth) and jobs (firefighter). Pick a category and difficulty and reveal random words to fit your group.
How many people can play charades?
At least four, split into two teams, works well; the more players, the livelier it gets. The built-in Team A / Team B scoreboard keeps the score for you.
How long do players get to guess?
Set the timer to 60, 90 or 180 seconds per turn. Shorter rounds raise the pressure; longer ones suit younger players and harder words.
Are the words family-friendly and can kids play?
Yes — the deck is all-ages, and the Easy difficulty keeps to simple, easy-to-mime words that work well for younger players.
Is it free and private?
Completely free, no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.
