About this tool
A random color generator instantly creates one or more colors at the click of a button, each shown with its HEX, RGB or HSL code. Copy a code with one tap, lock the colors you like and re-roll the rest, or build a 2–5 colour palette in a chosen harmony.
How to use it
- Choose how many colors — 1 for a single color, up to 5 for a palette.
- Pick a harmony mode, or leave it on Auto.
- Tap Generate, then lock the colors you like and re-roll the rest.
- Switch HEX / RGB / HSL and tap a swatch to copy its code.
Color harmonies explained
- Analogous — neighbouring hues — calm and cohesive.
- Complementary — opposite hues — high contrast and energy.
- Triadic — three evenly spaced hues — balanced and vibrant.
- Tetradic — four hues in two complementary pairs — rich; pick one to lead.
- Monochromatic — one hue in light-to-dark tones — clean and minimal.
HEX, RGB & HSL — which code?
- HEX — the compact #RRGGBB form — the default for web and CSS.
- RGB — red, green and blue from 0–255 — handy in code and image editors.
- HSL — hue, saturation and lightness — intuitive for tweaking a shade.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I generate a random color?
- Tap Generate for a random color shown with its HEX, RGB or HSL code. Choose 1 for a single color or up to 5 for a coordinated palette.
- Can I copy the color code?
- Yes — switch between HEX, RGB and HSL, then tap any swatch to copy that code straight to your clipboard.
- Can I lock a color and re-roll the rest?
- Yes — lock the colors you like and tap Generate again; the locked ones stay while the rest are replaced, so you can refine a palette.
- What's the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?
- They're three ways to write the same color: HEX (#RRGGBB) is the web default, RGB uses red/green/blue 0–255, and HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) makes it easy to tweak a shade. Use whichever your tool expects.
